For a few months of each year, I spend my time in Turkey. I really enjoy the country and when the hear has died down, the tourists left then I can think of no better places to idle away a few weeks. But there’s one thing that I really do miss and that’s UK television (well actually two but missing fish fingers is a bit strange). But I recently solved the problem of how to watch BBC Iplayer abroad and it’s actually quite simple to do with a proxy and a laptop.

But it’s still not quite the same as watching the 10:00 Clock news on the TV, especially on my laptop screen which is only about 15 inches wide. Now of course people have mumbled things about connecting my computer to my TV but nothing very specific. But in fact there is a solution and it’s actually called the Nintendo Wii, simply load the BBC IPlayer channel onto it then put in the proxy settings I used on my laptop in the right screen and that was it. A surprisingly good picture streamed directly onto my TV through a games console.
